Black Pumas, an Austin-based duo who don’t shy away from signifiers of the past. Conjuring the sounds of the late 1960s and early 1970s without succumbing to nostalgic pandering, the duo capture the twilight of the soul era. 

The album is filled with sounds reminiscent of a time when R&B turned grittier, trippier, and funkier, rhythms roll with the tight precision of the rhythm section. Sitting between Motown and East Coast Hip Hop, the debut album presents a marriage of masterful production and iconic melodies that manage to be both classy and current.
